Coaches Code of Conduct

  1. I herby pledge to live up to my certification as a level 1 / 2 hockey coach.
  2. I will place the emotional and physical well-being of my players ahead of a personal desire to win.
  3. I will treat each player as an individual, remembering the large range of emotional and physical development of the same age group.
  4. I will do my best to provide a safe playing situation for my players.
  5. I will promise to have a first aider available at all matches and trainings.
  6. I will do my best to organise practices that are fun and challenging for all my players.
  7. I will lead by example in demonstrating fair play and sportsmanship to all my players.
  8. I will provide a sports environment for my team that is free of drugs / tobacco and alcohol and I will refrain from their use at all hockey matches and practices.
  9. I will be knowledgeable in the rules of hockey and will teach these rules to my players.
  10. I will use those coaching techniques appropriate for each of the skills that I teach.
  11. I will remember that I am a youth coach and that the game is for children and not adults.
  12. I will endeavour to make sure that all players are suitably dressed for the game of hockey which includes shin pads / gum shield etc. If a player is not then I have the power to ask them to leave the pitch. I understand that this is for their safety.
