Team Reports
• Men 1st - Have won three games in a row, beating US Portsmouth and Tadley 3-1 and Fordingbridge 2-1. They struggled for players in the game against Tadley but the team seems to be coming together and producing results.
• Ladies 1st - Have had problems fielding a team and finding umpires - this has led to the loss of the last three games to Hamble, Romsey and Vectis. There are a few players who are constantly playing two games each Saturday and this needs to be dealt with before the start of next season. It was suggested that the Ladies 2nd team is pulled out of the League and that any remaining games are played as friendlies. Nigel will approach the subject with Kim Upstill.
• Men 2nd - Riding high after Xmas at 5th in the division, the team beat US Portsmouth 3-2 but then lost the last two games against Eastleigh and Alton.
• Ladies 2nd - Some mixed results: Lost to Aldershot & Farnham and IBM Nomads but then went on to beat Eastleigh 2-1 at home. A great result that moved them up to 5th in the division.
• Mens 1898 - They lost the first two games after Xmas against Michelmersh & Timsbury and Lavant but then beat the Isle of Wight 2-1. This however still leaves them in the bottom half of the division.
• Juniors - Both U14 boys’ teams have won or drawn their games this month with a 20-4 thrashing of Winchester by the B team just one of the highlights. Both teams are top of their leagues. The U14 girls beat Salisbury 2-1 but unfortunately lost against Romsey and Andover. The U16 boys won all three of their matches and also their Cup match against Camberley. At the John Wright Tournament, the U8 team came third winning bronze and the U14 boys came 1st - well done!!
CDO Report
• There will be no appeal by the club against the 3 year suspension given to Pete Campbell.
ULO Report
• All teams have had difficulty securing umpires - of 5 members who were put forward for the course, only one is umpiring regularly for the club. Louise suggested that some of the ladies may be interested, should we end up with just one team next season. Steve offered to find out the date of the next course.
Social Sec. Report
• £1,305 was raised for the club at the Xmas social - thank you to everyone involved. Mike is still hoping to step back from the organisation of social events - is there anyone interested in taking over?
• There has been reasonable coaching each week. Another meeting is needed soon - 21st February 2006. There is another coaching course in March - if you are interested in being put forward, please speak to Alan Higgins.
AGM/Presentation Evening
• The date of the AGM this year will be the 25th April. Any agenda items should be put forward to Nigel Williams and current committee members should let Nigel know whether they will be standing for their positions next season.
• Possible dates for the Presentation Evening are the 19th or 20th May. Mike is looking into having a hog roast at the Rugby Club.
AOB
• The pitch will be closed on the 15th and 16th February for repairs.
• If items are used from the first aid kits provided by the club, they must be replaced ASAP.
• Anyone who needs to have a CRB check done, please speak to Tracy or alternatively visit the website at www.disclosure.com
• Mike has put forward a proposal for a Club Incentive scheme to be put in place next season. This would encourage members to offer their umpiring/coaching services, or even to become committee members by using reduced membership fees and/or payment as incentives. This will be discussed at the AGM.
• Mike has also looked into the idea of purchasing banners to attach to the outside of the cage advertising the club. This is a promising idea that will be discussed further at the next meeting.
NEXT MEETING: 28th February 2006 at the Alverbank Hotel 19:00 for 19:15 start
