Ladies 1st vs Fareham Ladies 2nd
Gosport 6-1 Fareham 2s
5th December 2009
Someone must have been good this year as Santa serves up 3 points just in time for Christmas.
Solid early exchanges saw Gosport edge the early chances. After a few near misses Hannah Masson managed to finish off a good Gosport move (GOAL 1-0). A sudden break by Fareham lead to the ball move diagonally cross the home D – Anna making her debut in goal unfortunately stumbled and pulled knee ligaments. With a stop in the game and a few frustrated tears later it was clear she could not go on…. Bad times!
Whilst Amber took about 4 hours to get padded up it was decided that we would continue with 11 outfield players in a pretty fine 4-5-2 formation. More chances came and went for the whites, whilst Fareham sniffed out a chance with a PC. The resultant shot being stopped on the line by AJ Cree…
Eventually the home team pressure told and Gosport got what they deserved as an initial driving run by Hannah to the top of the D lead to a shot which hit the post and was finally put away by the returning Gaynor Toms (GOAL 2-0). With their heads up a third was soon in the offing as Christina Nelson drove to the baseline from the right and put it past the Fareham keeper at her near post (GOAL 3-0). Just when things were looking straight forward Fareham hit back with a soft goal due to a defensive lap (GOAL 3-1). Not to be deterred, and completing a quick 3 goals in the last five minutes of the half Gaynor finished off once more from a good passing move (GOAL). Half time 4-1.
With a keeper now back on the pitch Gosport continued to dominate the game. Christina, with another direct run finished well to make it 5 (GOAL). Finally with more chances going begging and Gosport forwards getting in each other’s way to try and score Gaynor managed to finish a great hat-trick! Full time 6-1.
Hopefully we can stay off the booze and mince pies just a little so that we take this form into January…
