Gosport 1-3 P&S 1s
17th October 2009
…dominated the game, just didn’t take the chances…
Off of last week’s horror show it was back to St V to try and get the season back on track.
Early exchanges came and went with the home team beginning to turn the screw. Good early runs on the right by Christina Nelson, along with solid possession and biting challenges in the middle of the park by Samantha Mitchell caused P&S a number of problems. Opportunities fell to Gaynor Toms in the D with shots being well saved by the oppo keeper. A couple of PCs lead to further chances with no end result. Finally a chance fell to Carra Beames and was duly dispatched into the bottom corner (GOAL). Quality passing continued, with many 50-50s going the way of the whites. However, with 5 minutes left of the half a chance fell to P&S from 5 yards out – the first shot was saved well by Charlotte Dowell in the Gosport goal, but with the defence watching on the rebound was easily put away (GOAL). Half time 1-1.
The second half started positively with Georgia Clist continuing to cause problems for the P&S right back, but the pressure did not tell as more chances came and went. A PC was given to P&S about 10 mins into the half (probably should have been a flick for a foot on the line eh AJ Cree??). This was dispatched by the P&S forward after a neat interchange at the top of the D (GOAL). Shortly after, with Gosport heads down, a second P&S PC resulted in a goal (GOAL). Composure began to flow back in to the Gosport ranks and further chances rained down upon the P&S goal, but it was not meant to be. Even playing the last 5 minutes in a 1-3-6 formation did still not lead to a second for the home side.
